As the amazing tenure of the East Lake Security Patrol came to an end, a group of concerned neighbors with the support of the community helped fund the continuation of the patrol until a new organization could be formed. The newly created East Lake Patrol (ELP) launched on June 1st, 2018. While it is a entirely new organization, the principles remain the same; to create a safer, stronger East Lake. Good day East Lake Security Patrol Members,
We have been honored to have served the East Lake Community for the last 10 years as the founders and the board. We were bless to have Greg Cashman serve as the treasurer for many years. Crime has cycles. The ELSP has been very engaged with the Atlanta Police through Zone 6, the City of Decatur Police, and the DeKalb County Police. In addition, we developed a relationship with the DeKalb Solicitor's Office and the DeKalb County District Attorney's Office, so that we can follow repeat-offenders cases. We have been instrumental is getting bonds raised and sentences lengthened for those who continuously violate our neighborhood.
There are times it rises and then may fall just as quickly. More often than not, the crime rate directly affects our ELSP membership. When crime is up, we have more members. We crime is down, our membership drops significantly. We have been blessed over the years to get funding gifts from Councilmember Natalyn Archibong and other sources. Unfortunately, the inconsistency of membership is detrimental to the sustainability of the ELSP.
As a result, we regret that we must inform you that the last day for the ELSP is February 28, 2018. For those members who have paid the annual membership fee, we will return/refund a pro-rated portion of the unspent funds to you. Those refunds will be issued no later than March 15, 2018, and will be handled by Greg Cashman, Treasurer (email@example.com). For those members who paid monthly through Paypal, you will not be charged going forward.
Again, it has been a pleasure and a honor to serve the East Lake Community. Our neighborhood crime rate has seen a reduction each of the last 10 years.
Thank you for support through the years!
Luana, Valencia, and Greg
